The Only Gap That Matters
By: Jon Dwoskin
Most people walk into a room already behind. They’re carrying yesterday, last week, a version of their rhythm that no longer fits who they’re trying to become. The question isn’t whether you want more. The money, the freedom, the growth. Almost every hand in the room goes up for that. The real question is whether you’re willing to execute consistently enough to make it happen.
That gap between wanting it and doing what it takes is the only gap that matters.
Here’s what I’ve learned after years of coaching executives, salespeople, and business owners: the problem is almost never knowledge. You already know most of what you need to know. The problem is execution. And execution is daily discipline, not a quarterly event.
It starts with owning a CEO Mindset. Regardless of your title, you are the CEO of your business. Nobody is coming to save it. Nobody is going to grow it for you. That’s not a warning. It’s freedom. When you truly own it, everything shifts. You stop reacting and start leading.
From there, it comes down to a few fundamentals:
- Prospect every single day. Build your pipeline before you need it.
- Follow up relentlessly. Most deals aren’t lost on price. They’re lost because nobody followed up.
- Know your three key leading metrics and hit them every single day.
- Think in minutes, not hours. Protect your prime business hours like your business depends on it.
- Build both brands, internal and external. People don’t buy products. They buy people they trust.
The gap between where you are and where you want to be isn’t a knowledge gap. It’s an execution gap. Close it one day at a time.
